Support of GeForce 6xxx and 7xxx GPUs
Latest version for Nvidia driver "340-xxx" no longer supports 6 and 7 series Nvidia cards. Last stable version for those cards need to be "304-131".
Systems with these cards may not even display kubuntu installer menu properly. Perhaps the installation needs to be done under minimum graphical feature. "nouveau" driver enabled by default does not work properly with these cards.
Nvidia-installer throws an error during installation. Nvidia-installer needs "nouveau" disabled along with "lightdm" service stopped in order to install properly. Nvidia-installer also complained about missing a package "gcc" during installation.
I blacklisted "nouveau" following a thread and was able to install the driver.
After Linuxmce install, I edited line #78 and #92 and added "304" instead of "340" in /usr/pluto/bin/nvidia-install.sh and rerun AVwizard got the proper driver for the card.
